Music recommendations from Ozorian Prophet

ozorian_prophet.jpgThe first month of the summer is finally here and we are getting excitingly close to our meeting in August. In spirit most of us are already stomping on the dancefloor in Ozora so why not turn up the speakers right on the spot where we are, listening to some festival music? New releases of Braincell and Fasma are in the limelight this month, as well as an interesting chillout compilation by Green Beats.

Boom! Records seem to be back after quite a few years hiatus with an amazing new EP from Braincell. The small but legendary record label of Matt Boom in the Netherlands used to be the home of artists like Logic Bomb and Chi Ad, as well as the Braincell side-project Rastaliens, among others. On the April EP called Illusion And Reality swiss psytrance master Braincell showcases three of his latest works. Illusion & Reality, Mind Boggler and Timeshifter all feature his trademark sound, the classic rolling basslines spiced up with mysterious leads and crazy acid melodies that immediately enchant and capture all listeners on every dancefloor. The kind of music that makes you dance no matter how tired you think you are - just as expected from Braincell. Being one of the most active artists in this year’s lineup, Ralph is already working on his next full-length album to be released in the upcoming months while regularly giving his fans appetizers on the Braincell/Solar Spectrum Soundcloud page - definitely worth looking up.

In the February issue of Ozorian Prophet we already wrote about the debut album of the Green Beats duo released not so long ago on the chillout division of Nutek Records. The Spanish seem to be restless and have already finished their very first chillout compilation for Nutek Chill called Next Step. The album showcases ten different artists and ten almost completely different downtempo tracks ranging from psychedelic chillout to dub, lounge, IDM and even reggae sometimes. Except from Kukan Dub Lagan, Ishdub and Green Beats itself, most of the producers are debuting on this compilation - it is a wave of fresh air as the label's release notes say. Other than that, it is an easy and relaxing collection of chillout music, perfectly suitable for almost all possible human activities, especially the pure enjoyment of life, lying in the grass and doing absolutely nothing.

At this point Fasma from Greece may be still relatively new and unknown to the international psytrance community (his first EP came out in 2011) but it will definitely not stay like this for long. The progressive psytrance he is making is fresh and striking, combining nighttime music elements with proggie rythms and rolling fullon basslines - Fasma seems like he found the perfect combination of everything you can move a psytrance crowd with, and the end result is Party Music at its best. His newest release called Remote Sounds is available as a digital EP and contains three brand new Fasma tracks. Just like on his earlier releases, the music sounds new and familiar, dark and melodic, crazy and easily uplifting all at once. The Fasma live act is one of those anticipated new Main Stage performances at Ozora this year and we recommend everyone who loves progressive psytrance to check it out. If you haven't seen it yet, also look up the full interview we made with Jon Fasma in the ... issue of Ozorian Prophet.
