Kočani, a little town in Macedonia, is synonymous with Romani brass music introduced worldwide by the famed Kočani Orkestar. In the twenty years of its existence, Kočani Orkestar has often changed its original line-up. Some younger ex. band members, led by the trumpet player Dragančo Petkov and several young Kočani musicians, developed a more modern music style. Touring through Balkan, they met Darko Pecotić and Vjekoslav Ostojić who were DJ-ing on several of these shows which led to successful session with the band. They invited Samir Kadribašić a funk bass player and DJ Venom one of the best balkan turntable player to work on the project. This is the story of the group that got together, either by chance or on purpose, to embark on a new music adventure called KOČANI FUNKOLEKTIV.
